Cuyahoga Heights Schools Awarded $180,0000 for Purchase of Buses

Cuyahoga Heights Schools has received $180,000 from the Ohio Department of Education School Bus Purchase Program to replace four of the district’s 13 school buses.

Funds came from House Bill 110 which provides $50 million (in total) for school districts to replace older school buses.”The Department of Education used our annual transportation reporting to evaluate the number of buses to award our district,” said District Treasurer Matt Muccio. This is the first time the district has been awarded these funds.

This current award of $180,000 will help to offset the expected cost of $90,000 per vehicle, said Muccio, bringing the effective cost of four buses down to about $45,000 each.

The district plans to order the buses as soon as feasible in anticipation of arrival by the start of the new school year.  However, supply chain shortages may delay delivery.
