Cuyahoga Heights Middle School Students Build Friendships and Leadership Skills During Team Building Day

Cuyahoga Heights Middle School students stepped outside their regular classroom routines on November 5 for a day of team building, leadership development, and hands-on challenges facilitated by Common Ground, an organization based in Oberlin.

The experience gave students a chance to strengthen friendships, build trust, and develop important life skills while working together in a supportive environment.

Throughout the day, students participated in group games and team challenges designed to encourage communication, cooperation and problem-solving. Activities challenged students to step outside their comfort zones, support one another and discover the importance of teamwork.

The experience also emphasized leadership, encouraging students to take initiative, build confidence and recognize the value of each person's contributions to a group's success.

“This team-building day supported our school's ongoing efforts to foster a positive, inclusive school culture where every student feels connected, valued and supported,” said Principal Scott DeTray. “Through shared experiences and collaborative challenges, students strengthened relationships and practiced skills they can carry into their classrooms and everyday lives.”
